Jacob Mattson
Undergraduate Intern
I am a senior at Taylor University studying psychology and counseling. I became interested in psychology, I think, through personality typology. From this seed, my interest has grown into a passion for caring for people’s hearts and souls. This passion is strengthened and perfected by my Catholic faith, which teaches me of the infinite and inalienable dignity of every human being. In the future, I hope to apply this passion to professional work in some way. I am also interested in the intersection of psychology and moral theology, especially as it applies to the practices of the counselor/clinician: how does as a conscientious Catholic counselor/clinician navigate the treacherous waters of a pluralistic and religiously indifferent culture? In the meantime, I look forward to the ways in which my internship at CPS will help me to strengthen my passion for and increase my knowledge of psychology.
